Just as the oil in an engine needs to be replaced as part of a maintenance plan the oil in a damper should be exchanged because as with the engine oil it deals with extreme pressure, temperatures and friction.
With each stroke of travel, the smooth surfaces inside your suspension pick up microscopic particles of debris. Those particles are drawn into the oil and over time contaminate the interior passageways and valves. As the hours of use accumulate, so does the contamination. Your high-performance suspension will begin to lose its ability to generate damping forces.
To keep your suspension performing at the highest level, frequent servicing is necessary.

Fork
Lower Service
Recommended Service Interval:
Every 50 hours of ride time.
Service Procedure:
- Remove fork lowers
- Thorough cleaning of all internal and external surfaces
- Inspect bushing surfaces for damage and wear
- Inspect stanchions for damage and wear
- Install new wiper seals, foam rings (or oil seals if applicable), and travel indicator ring
- Install new oil per factory specifications
- Install new crush washers on lower nuts/bolts
- Torque lower nuts/bolts to factory specifications
Air Spring Service
Recommended Service Interval:
Every 50 hours of ride time.
Service Procedure:
- Lower Service including...
- Removal of air shaft and top cap
- Thorough cleaning and inspection of stanchion tubes
- Remove and replace seals on air shaft
- Install air shaft with new grease/oil according to factory specifications
